Over Morgen was asked to develop and accompany the participation process for the redevelopment of a specific area in a residential neighbourhood in Naarden.
Our solution
The municipality of Naarden, housing corporation De Alliantie and the Wellantcollege have set the goal to redevelop an entire area of the city. This area is located in an existing residential neighbourhood, whose residents are known to be quite critical and outspoken. The parties have asked Over Morgen to set up and accompany the whole participation process. Over Morgen started by defining a strategy for participation and communication. First, we have conducted talks with key figures in the organisations involved and in the area.
Based on the outcome of these talks, we have created a specific approach and taken over different roles in order to implement it: process supervisors, strategists and advisers to the Councillor and project manager (among others), and, ultimately, facilitators of interactive gatherings and creators of communication tools. In concrete terms, we have organised drop-in sessions and workshops, issued newsletters and launched and maintained an interactive website for the project. The residents’ feedback has been used to make recommendations for the follow-up phases or adjustments of the process. The strategy and its implementation went always hand-in-hand. Communication and participation, from strategy to implementation.
