Towards the end of 2019, the province of North Holland has asked us to assess the potential of large rooftops for the installation of solar panels. In this video (in Dutch), we give a clear, concise explanation to the owners on how to install solar panels on their rooftops by making use of the SDE subsidy (Renewable Energy Incentive Scheme). On large rooftops, it is often possible to generate renewable energy with help from the subsidy and have a good return on investment; a real win-win situation.
Our solution
In cooperation with the Sustainable Energy Expertise Centre (Servicepunt Duurzame Energie), we have developed a tool: the so-called Atlas for Solar Energy on Rooftops (Atlas Zon op Dak). This tool shows at first glance which large roofs (from 1000 m2) are already fitted with solar panels, which roofs have already received a subsidy, and which roofs have not yet been re-purposed. Within a single municipality, we make a selection to indicate which rooftops are the most suitable; this allows us to define our target group, which we then approach to offer assistance.
Customised consulting
We assist organisations that have already filed the request for the SDE subsidy, but have not yet started the construction, by offering a customised consultancy service. The rooftop owners are likely to need assistance to evaluate their financing options; we will help them make the best choice. They might also opt for making further investigations after the construction on their roof; our experts will be ready to help.
Most rooftop owners have not yet requested the subsidy. This target group makes up the greatest portion of rooftops in North Holland and has an enormous potential: more than 4000 hectares of rooftop surface altogether. Interested rooftop owners can request a roof scan; a reliable estimation of the roof potential in number of panels, potential for generating renewable energy and the business case. Afterwards, we provide answers to the owners’ questions to help them make the best choice. And if the rooftop owner wants to go one step further, we can request the SDE++ subsidy for them free of charge and without further obligations.
Cooperation with municipalities and local parties
The province and Over Morgen believe in the importance of a good cooperation with local parties and initiatives. In fact, local knowledge and support are an integral part of our success. This is why, in cooperation with the park management of the Waarderpolder, we have organised a meeting in Haarlem for all businesses involved. In other locations, we work together with the municipalities to target and approach specific companies. In a meeting which took place online, the Service Point has already engaged the municipalities and motivated them to cooperate in the coming period. Want to know more?
